Internship Experience

In the fall of 2024, I completed a 160 hour internship serving a Strategic Project Manager and Excellence Lead in the Executive Vice Presidents Office of Finance & Operations at Clemson University.

Description

As a Language & International Business student at Clemson University, it is required to complete a 160-hour internship with the intention that it is done in the target language. In most cases the student completes this by pairing it with a study abroad program. In my case, athletics prohibited me completing a full semester study abroad program, and therefore an internship in my target language.

I was lucky enough to complete my internship in the Executive Vice President's Office of Finance and Operations where I served a Strategic Project Manager and Excellence Lead. In this role, I assisted in many different areas from documenting key action points and strategic initiatives to developing process change models and infographics for varying sectors of the department. I learned a lot about organizational leadership and the most efficient operational business practices in a large variety of different environments. This internship gave me incredible insight into the many aspects of business and higher education while also allowing me to work hands on and develop operational and administrative skills.

The last task for Language & International Business prospective graduates is to write a reflective essay-style report on their internship experience and the role it played in their professional and linguistic development. Be it that my internship was not completed in my target language, my internship report covers how my experience studying abroad, working an internship, and leading a national championship winning sports team all played their role in my linguistic and professional development.

My internship report is an 8-page pdf written in Spanish that can be found below.
